• Some students head home or to the streets, others stay for sports practice and others go straight into the library. It’s the last place you might expect to find a student at the end of the day. But that’s where our after-school program is located.

Quincy Connected

Quincy: Connected helps a small, rural, isolated school district with few external resources address common academic and social problems through afterschool programming that provides academic support to 250 regularly attending students, over 95% of whom are Hispanic and 90% low-income.

NLA tutors work with students one-on-one to bolster their skills in math, science and reading and offer positive role models. Students participate in field trips to boost their interest in STEM fields including a Washington STEM Foundation-funded project involving students in sustainable green technology energy projects partnering with Wild Horse Windfarms and Grant County PUD’s Wanapum Dams. Other partners: University of Washington College of Engineering, Central Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, WSU Extension and Big Bend Community College.
