An afterschool STEM program for Hispanic students

Hispanic youth from low socio-economic backgrounds represent an increasingly large percentage of students in the U.S. They are unfortunately an underrepresented group among those who study and pursue careers in STEM fields.

NLA has received funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, WSU Foundation and the Yakama Nation Legends Casino Foundation.

NLA is one of the 10 inaugural recipients of the new Washington State foundation, Washington STEM, in the category of Entrepreneurial Awards for a project that will involve middle and high school students from Highland and Quincy School Districts in a STEM project exploring alternative energy in central Washington state.

Committed to Partnerships

Since 1999, NLA has partnered with the University of Washington, Washington State University, Central Washington University, and Big Bend, Yakima, Columbia Basin, and Wenatchee V alley Community Colleges to provided programs in 70 schools in 27 districts across 8 rural counties.
